Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a cosmetic procedure that can diminish common skin concerns such as skin texture and discoloration, as well as help alleviate anti-aging concerns. During your in-person consultation, one of our experienced staff will use the Visia skin analysis system to identify your skin’s condition above and below the surface, ensuring a treatment plan that suits you individually. We offer microneedling with the SkinPen®, the first FDA-cleared microneedling device to provide safe, effective treatment for fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and skin texture.

How SkinPen® Microneedling Treatments Work

The SkinPen® utilizes tiny, sterile needles that penetrate the dermis, creating micro-punctures. This process triggers your body’s natural healing response and promotes collagen and elastin production. These essential proteins give your skin structure and support, but they naturally decline as we age. Reviving collagen and elastin levels can help reduce wrinkles and acne scarring while improving skin elasticity. 

During your microneedling session, a topical anesthetic will be applied to ensure your total comfort. Your skin will then be cleansed, and the treatment will begin. Microneedling sessions are about an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area.

Microneedling Downtime

Downtime from microneedling with the SkinPen® is minimal, and most clients return to their normal activities the same day. Clients typically experience a few days of redness and sensitivity, though some clients’ symptoms fade entirely within 24 hours. Your healing time will depend on your personalized treatment and your unique skin. 

It is best to avoid applying makeup to the treatment area during recovery. It is also essential to wear sunscreen and avoid direct sun exposure as your skin heals.

Those with deeper wrinkles, acne scarring, or stretch marks may need six to eight treatments. We may recommend incorporating additions such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into your treatments to enhance your results.

Microneedling Results

Many clients can see nearly immediate improvements in the appearance and feel of their skin. However, the body’s natural healing process takes time, so your results will develop gradually as collagen and elastin production continues. The results of microneedling typically last up to six months following your last treatment. We recommend annual maintenance treatments to keep your results fresh.

Microneedling Candidates

Most clients who are interested in skin rejuvenation with the SkinPen® are good candidates for treatment. You may not be an ideal candidate for this treatment if you have a wound, infection, or active acne in the treatment area. Our highly trained staff will determine your candidacy for microneedling and address the number of microneedling sessions and the depth of treatment that best treats your unique skin concerns during your consultation.

How It Works

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, works by creating controlled, microscopic injuries on the skin’s surface using a handheld device with fine needles. These micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural healing process, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin. Collagen provides strength and structure to the skin, while elastin allows it to stretch and bounce back. As the skin repairs itself, new collagen and elastin fibers are formed, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin.

What happens during my customized facial?

We offer custom facial treatments, each of which will include a treatment tailored to your specific needs. In addition to a soothing and skin-rejuvenating facial, the second level of treatment also offers a massage of the scalp, hands, arms, and shoulders and an herbal foot soak. 

Our Studio 17 team has designed both packages to provide you with the most enjoyable spa experience and excellent facial rejuvenation results. During your consultation, we will assess your skin with our Visia Skin Analyzer. This innovative device evaluates the surface and beneath the skin to curate a personalized treatment plan that can address your unique concerns.

What are the benefits of a customized facial?

With a customized facial at Studio 17, you can treat a variety of skin concerns, including skin discoloration, acne, and more, to achieve beautiful, glowing skin. The results you can see with treatment will vary depending on the treatments you include in your plan. With a customized facial, you can:

What happens after my customized facial?

All the treatments you can incorporate into your customized facial require no downtime. You are free to resume your normal activities right after treatment. Exfoliations and peels may leave minor redness, but this is usually minimal and will fade within a few hours or a couple of days for some peels.

Who is a good candidate for customized facials?

At Studio 17, we can customize a facial for almost any client, no matter how sensitive their skin or skin type. If you have particular skin concerns you would like to address with your treatment; you can discuss them with one of our skincare professionals so they can plan a solution during your facial treatment experience. What do I need to do before my customized facial?

Before your customized facial, please avoid waxing and laser therapy for at least 48 hours. Avoid using retinol and glycolic for at least 72 hours before your treatment. Inform your practitioner about any medications you are currently taking or if you have recently had botox/filler.
